Eden Scott's client is looking to recruit an Engineer for their client based in Montrose or Aberdeen.
Essential Responsibilities
- Liaises with Commercial Operations, Product and Sales functions during the pursuit and bid phases of a tender.
- Interpret customer specifications to produce design specifications.
- Identify and ensure equipment is designed in accordance with the current health, safety and environmental legislation.
- Maintain compliance to engineering quality control processes and update/create engineering work instructions where necessary.
- Produce general arrangement, detailed manufacturing drawings, P&IDs for complex hydraulic systems and produce Bills of Materials (BOM’s).
- Develop conceptual design requirements for customer
- Undertake design verification, which may include but not limited to: risk analysis, failure analysis, design reviews, calculations to establish a full design verification package (DVP). Ensure DVP has third party or independent review
- Approve Bill of Materials (BOM) in ePIMS
- Check and approve drawings and calculations undertaken by others in support of design.
- Carry out design work for modifications and corrective work
- Technical liaison with other departments, customers & the supply base for production of test, installation & maintenance documentation
- Operational support during the build and test phases & field support as required.
- Product line extension activity to further develop the product portfolio, identify improvements in existing products, procedures and processes and develop cost effective solutions to satisfy specifications.
- Carry out technical reviews with supply management to define the material requirements for a design / projects.
- Ensure that all documentation produced for each project undertaken fully defines the equipment to be manufactured and it’s performance.
- Produce design solutions to sometimes complex mechanical problems that consider function, fitness for purpose, standardization, value engineering, maintainability and meet project timescales and budgets.
- Produce estimates, plans, for projects undertaken.
- Participate in lessons learned meetings.
- Root cause failure investigation and technical reporting
- Ensures compliance with Company Policies and Procedures.
- Optimize the selection of products to minimise the impact on our supply chain and manufacturing process to enable profitable execution.
- Provide accurate and validated Technical Proposals and an understanding of commercial impact.
- Confidence and ability to directly negotiate alternative solutions with internal and external customers and can quickly analyse the commercial consequences of making such decisions.
- Presents solutions in a form capable of ready interpretation by Internal and External customers at tender pursuit and execution phases
- Support the rest of the Service ITO team with engineering tasks and understanding such that the solution is competitive and preferred by the client.
- Ensure all work is conducted to the “Spirit and the Letter” and in an environmentally and safe manner
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Degree Qualified Mechanical Engineer or experience mechanical engineering or in a relevant technical discipline.
- Skills in multiple disciplines - Structural, Mechanical, Hydraulic, Materials
- Familiar with relevant industry standards and codes for area of work
- Have a good working knowledge of MS Office applications (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work across disciplines and departments, particularly production and manufacturing
- Strong time management skills and ability to perform to focused schedules
- Effective organisation and communication skills. |
