Our client is one of the leading manufacturers of short shelf life chilled products in the UK serving the majority of the major multiples, with instantly recognisable products and a track record of innovation and success. Given a recent restructure within the business, a need has arisen at this flagship site to recruit a proven Engineering Manager to develop the site engineering capability and drive the business towards becoming a truly world class organisation.
The Role
The position forms part of the Senior Management Team and will report directly to the Site General Manager. You will have total control of all aspects of the engineering function including all day-to-day engineering issues, strategic initiatives, process development, continuous improvement, change programme delivery and integration of applications based software systems to provide cohesive actionable M.I.S (including the delivery for the Planned Preventative Maintenance System). Additionally, you will be accountable for the development of the culture and skills of the engineering team. You will have people management responsibility for a team of disciplined multi-skilled engineers providing 24/7 cover for the site.
Experience
We are looking for a ‘people orientated’, hands-on Engineering Manager who has the ability to increase the visibility and perception of the function throughout the business. Ideally of graduate calibre, you will be a solid multi-skilled engineer with a demonstrable depth of people and engineering management experience. You will have proven budgetary skills, an excellent record of delivering change programmes, be fully conversant with lean tools, techniques and technologies and genuinely believe in the need to create and maintain a Continuous Improvement culture. Your experience will ideally have been gained within a unionised FMCG organisation and as such you will have a solid appreciation of world class environments. With a very honest, open and visible approach to engineering management, your hands-on approach coupled with your ability to identify future opportunities will ensure success.
