Design Engineer / Design and Development Engineer
Salary: Between £20,000 and £35,000, dependent on experience
Location: Cumbria, England
Commutable from: Barrow-in-furness, Ulverston, Dalton-in-furness, Roanhead, The Lake district, Kendal , Lancaster, Morecambe
The Company:
A dynamic and progressive engineering company with a unique product, operating in a niche and lucrative sector. Over the last year, the company has gone from strength to strength, surpassing its targets and goals. Turnover projections for this year are over 6 times more than what was achieved in 2011, and they have already dented this target significantly. In the short term their focus is the supply of Europe. In the long term they plan to expand to America, Australia and the Middle-east. Opportunities for career progression include: Chartered engineer status in the short term, Design Manager in the long term, as well as the potential for overseas opportunities should you want them in the future.

The Role:
An incredibly diverse cradle to the grave design and development role, focused on the design of cutting edge products. You will be expected to take full charge and responsibility over multiple projects at any one time and be able to deliver absolute quality through all stages of the process up to manufacture. You will be involved in 2D and 3D concept design, tooling design, specification generation, preparation of BOMs, prototyping and DFM, among other things. What you need to have:
- An HND/Degree or similar qualification in mechanical engineering and/or a minimum 3 years experience in a similar design engineer position.
- Ability to use ProE / Wildfire in the design of new products / tooling
- Experience in a creative product role and concept design
- Strong grasp of mathematics / applied mathematics
- Ability to design in 3D and produce associated 2D drawings
Personality:
You need to be a self motivated, dynamic and personable character, with an eye for detail.
