Our client uses the latest technology in industrial automation to provide robotic welding, handling and pick and place solutions to improve productivity and quality for their customers. They are now looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Fitter to join their team of Automation Engineers.



If you’re looking for a varied and challenging career, this is a fantastic opportunity for a practical, hands-on Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Fitter to join our client.



In this role you will play an integral part of the system build team. Working from engineering drawings, you will be responsible for the mechanical assembly, setup and commissioning of robot systems and fixturing.



Whilst predominantly workshop-based, there will be some travel to customer sites throughout the UK to install and set-up machinery.



Your duties will include:



- the mechanical assembly of robot systems and precision assembly of robot fixturing

- setting-up and aligning welding jigs and fixtures

- making mechanical machine modifications

- robot programming

- system installation and commissioning

- troubleshooting and fault finding

- maintaining and developing expertise in mechanical engineering techniques

- providing mentoring and guidance to junior team members



To be considered for this position, you must have:



- a solid engineering background

- strong mechanical fitting and close tolerance assembly skills gained in an industrial machine build environment

- the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, customer product drawings and geometric tolerancing

- the ability to operate conventional machine tools, including lathes, milling machines, band saws, grinders and hand tools

- completed a time served mechanical apprenticeship

- at a minimum, five GCSEs, grades A – C, and recognised City and Guilds, BTEC or NVQ qualifications



As a Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Fitter, you must have a strong attention to detail and the desire to learn and progress your skills. There will be an opportunity to learn robot programming and further your skills as an Automation Engineer.



Although not essential, experience of assembling and setting-up welding jigs and fixtures would be an advantage to your application.
